Dans la fabrication de pipes, il y a des pipes fait main, donc la texture du grain inspire la forme, et les pipes classiques, qui sont des modèles qui existent depuis plus de cent ans. 

Pipes consists of Freehand shapes, where the shape of the pipe follows the grain of the wood, and classical shapes, the have been around for over one hundred years.

La Fabrication - Pipemaking

La majorité des pipes sont produites en "bruyère". La bruyère provient des terrains autour de la Méditerrané. Les pays producteurs sont en majorité : l' Italie, le Maroc, l'Algérie, la Grèce

Most pipes are made of briar. Briar is a root which is found all around the Meditarenean, the pricipal produceurs are: Italy, Morocco, Greece, Algeria.

Les étapes - The production

1- Voici un examble de blocs de bruyère - Here is an examble of briar blocs

2- Pour voir le grain du bois, il faut sablé les surfaces. - To see the grain of the bloc, we sand the faces.

3- Nous procédons ensuite à dessiner la forme qui avantage le plus le grain. - We then proceed to draw the shape that will avantage the grain.

4- Nous taillons le bloc, pour faciliter le sablage. - We cut the excess to facilitate the sanding.

5- Le bloc avant le perçage du fourneau. The bloc before the drilling of the bowl.

6- Le fourneau percé. The bowl drilled.

7- Le sablage pour lui donner sa forme. The shaping of the pipe.

8- Le premier sablage de la pipe. The first sanding of the  pipe.

9- Le perçage pour le tuyeau. Drilling the shank for the stem.

10- Perçage du trou d'air. Drilling the air hole.

11- Nous mouillons le bois pour mieux voir le grain. Wetting the briar to see the grain.

12- La pose du tuyeau. Fitting the stem.

13- La pipe avant le sablage du tuyeau. The pipe before sanding the stem

14- Le sablage de la pipe et le tuyeau. Sanding the pipe and stem.

15- La pipe avant le finissage. The pipe, before the finishing.

16- Dernière étape avant la couleur. Last step before the staining.
